Weaving wellbeing into the fabric of technology

Weave Wellbeing is Safe Online’s initiative to raise a USD $100 million collaborative fund for children and adolescent mental health and safety in a digital age.

We’re establishing the first globally focused funding vehicle dedicated to building this field coherently across three pillars:

Establishing research foundations for evidence-based decisions
Testing technology solutions and promoting wellbeing-by-design
Integrating systems to scale proven interventions

The Challenge

How do digital technologies impact children’s mental health? 1 in 7 children globally experience mental health conditions, with billions spending unprecedented time in digital spaces. We lack consensus on evidence, mechanisms of impact, and effective interventions. Our objectives:

Promotion

Enhance digital ecosystems to improve mental health outcomes through robust, independent research, evidence-based interventions, and policy guidance.

Prevention

Implement comprehensive strategies: addressing risk factors while strengthening protective factors, while supporting early detection and nurturing interactions.

Treatment

Advance support for mental health conditions. Leverage technology for timely, accessible, and treatment, expanding quality care and community support.

Landscape Report

Clear directions for action across research, policy, interventions, and funding—an open resource for anyone working to protect and promote children’s mental health and wellbeing in digital spaces.

Our goal

Phase 1 (2026-2027)

Raise $40M

Launch foundational research and interventions

Phase 2 (2028-2030)

Secure additional $60M

Scale what works

By 2030

25K+ practitioners trained

5-10M children reached

Wellbeing-by-design standards adopted by major platforms

Policy reforms in multiple countries

and beyond

Transform $100M into a sustainable $1B+ movement making digital wellbeing the default

Get involved

We are building this movement in close collaboration with partners such as World Health Organisation (WHO), Galenos, Wellcome Trust, Prospira Global and a growing community of researchers, practitioners, and advocates. With financial support from Iconiq Impact.

Why now? Digital technology’s next chapter will be shaped by systems designed to simulate attachment, intimacy, and companionship. Without strong guardrails, risks intensify. With the right choices, we can create digital spaces where children genuinely thrive.

Our purpose in detail

We are here to ensure every child and young person grows in to the digital world feeling safe, and is protected from harm.

We support, champion, and invest in innovative partners from the public, private, and third sectors working towards the same objective.

We believe in equipping guardians and young people with the skills to understand and see danger themselves once accessing digital experiences without supervision.
