Child-Led Data
ECPAT International discussed how data acts as a powerful driver for change and accountability, stressing the importance of shared foundational knowledge for effective collaboration.
Key message | How? |
Aligning definitions is the foundation for meaningful data sharing and a mission-driven data infrastructure. | Harmonization (shared language): Without harmonized terminologies, organizations cannot adequately compare or aggregate data. ECPAT, along with over 40 organizations, revised the terminology guidelines for CSEA to align how the issue is discussed and what specific terms refer to. |
Data is a critical asset and a shared responsibility that must serve children first. | Linking systems: Collective solutions require practical alignment. Efforts should focus on linking national and regional data systems to ensure sustained changes and reinforce national action. |
Collective analysis drives action: Data sharing must lead to tangible change. | Shared risk analysis: Bringing diverse actors together (civil society, youth organizations, law enforcement, private sector) to collectively analyze shared data and risks across borders enables the development of collective solutions that help shape regional policies. |
